Bee Bee Parrot

Does anyone know a breeder that sells Bee bee parrots? I'm finding most breeders have never heard of them. My grandmother had one when I was little and I've never seen one since.

Try looking for orange chinned parakeet, or tovi parakeet/parrot... Sorry though, I don't know any breeders.

Smile Bee Bee Parrots

I used to have Bee Bee Parrots many years ago. Now they call them Canary Wings, maybe you should look for them. Wish you luck.

Post "BeeBee Parrots"

I used to have what I called a "Canary-winged Bee Bee parrot." After some research recently, I found that BeeBee may actually be "b v" from the latin name Brotogeris versicolurus. Although I don't have any personal knowledge of this breeder, you can see this website: http://secretgardenaviaries.homestea...cturePage.html

At least you can see some cute pictures of thse birds from hatchlings to adults.

Here is another breeder:

Yes, I know of them as Canary-wings, so I bet you might have a better chance looking for Canary-wings. When you posted about bee-bees, I didn't know what they were , but then tweety28 posted and I remembered "oh yeah, I read something about Bee-bees and Canary-wings" so now I know. Many breeders go by the term, "Canary-wing" now.

Bee Bee parrot

I saw 8 of them at Bird Paradise, Burlington NJ yesterday while shopping for nest bedding (and all sorts of other things too )

This was my first contact with these birds. They're very friendly, a little smaller than green cheek conures.

The retail price was 400$.

Hope this help.

LeLoup -- welcome to the forum!

This is an old thread that started in 2004 and was resurrected in 2006 ;)

But yes -- Bird Paradise does have some canary-winged parakeet babies. I haven't yet been up to see them.

Bee bee parrot has become a bit of a catch-all phrase for the brotogeris genus, as has pocket-parrot. I believe that bee bee was originally used for the orange-chinned parakeets (aka Tovi parakeets). You often hear it connected with canary-winged parakeets, which are the most readily available brotogeris in the US. They are DELIGHTFUL little parrots. Bigger than a parrotlet, smaller than a conure... and about somewhere in-between, temperment-wise.

I have a golden-winged parakeet, also part of the brotogeris genus. He's a little stinker but oh, how I adore my Pickle! He's really quite a charmer. Everyone who meets him is smitten in an instant :)
