If Moustache Parrots are gentle natured and can get along with Tiels and Princess Parrots, they would make a nice addition to my indoor aviary, currently populated by 9 Tiels and will be adding the 2 Princesses later. I have heaps of room and don't plan to breed. Are they gentle birds? They aren't very big are they, about the size of Greencheek Conures?

VeraT -- I like the island idea Only I'd HAVE to have horses on my island :)

Tiki -- I thought of you the other day when I picked up the 2006 issue of Birds USA. They had a nice article on different South Pacific/ Austrailain birds, like the Princess Parrots! Let me know if you want a copy of the magazine. I'd be happy to send one your way.

These charming Mustache Parakeets are just... OMG! I WANT ONE NOW! You know what I mean? I'm definitely going to do more reading about them. I love African parrots but the psittacula parrots are equally fascinating!

Eliza, I would love to see that article. Sometimes we get Birds 2005/6 whatever here, let me check. If not, I can send you the money for the postage and mag or swap you an Aussie bird mag for it.

Hi again, You can tell between sexes after a certain age, when they are young their beaks are black, then the males change color to the candie corn look. The best way I can discribe the mustache parakeet is WOW what a personality! They get to be 15 - 20 inches. What can I say, I Love them!! Talk to ya'll later.

From my experiences with ringnecks (particularly the alexandrian) they aren't very cuddly so to speak... but then again I have heard of some who say they've got really sweet ringnecks!

[quote=ejw829;133656]VeraT -- I like the island idea Only I'd HAVE to have horses on my island :)

I think horses are a great addition. When we were still liveing in Baltimore we used to go to Assitigue and Chinkatgue (I think I spelled them both wrong ) Islands every weekend. Thats 2 Islands that have wild poneys liveing on them. The gamewardens have a camp ground there but you have to be there at like 4am to get a place and its cheep BUT...........bring a blood transfusion because the salt marsh mosquitos are the worst I have EVER seen ANYWHERE!!! And I've travels 99%of the US and Virgin Isles. Everytime I go out and get attacked by the little vampires I think of Assitgue NOOOOOO Comparison.

mustache cuddler?

My little girl Mustache is being very cuddly lately, tis the season, she's rubs on my neck and is always wanting to be with me. It's so sweet. She's typically not like that, more stand offish and opinionated. I love the many attitudes of Cricket. My moods change too so it works out, if I'm in a cuddly mood my Sun Conure is on her way to be silly and cuddly, and if I'm in the mood for reading or studying, Crickets right there to hang on every word. We've had some beautiful discusion sessions, lol.
