blind meyers

I am possibly adopting a meyers(parrot?) she is blind,has anyone else a blind bird before?? what is the best way to care for her? the owners just want her to have a nice peacful life,any thoughts or help would be appreciated

You ought to talk to Alyce Johnson about Berta.... a ruby macaw. I don't think that Berta is fully blind (maybe she can see shadows?) but regardless she does pretty well with her disability!

Well Jillian is here,very sweet face,I will give her some time to settle in but she found her perch ok the prev owner thought she may not hear well either,I don't know how they could diagnos her hearing or sight? but I am happy to give her alot of love and time wow what a crowd now!! 22 keets,7 tiels,2 finchs,1 parrotlet and 1 blind myers whew!

You can tell whether or not she can hear by talking to her. If she shows any reaction then she can hear. As far as site, putting her in a light room or near a window and moving your hands past her eyes will tell you if she has any site at all (even if it's just shadows).

Sounds though like she'll probably do fine!
