Is it a quaker?
I've heard to put the cage in your yard. If your bird sees it, it might fly to it. Your bird is probably very scared and probably doesn't know how to fly back to you. Keep calling for him/her. I would also print flyers for all vet's in the area. If someone finds your bird, they will probably call the closest vet. Also, you might want to put an add in the classifies in the pet section. |

yep, its me
Hi everyone. Yes, Aree has escaped.
I just came back from putting out fliers and posters. We're going to dry off for a bit and then go out again. We're going to keep searching, posting, contacting and try to get it on the air-- radio or TV. I want to put her cage out, but its raining really hard and I don't want it to get really wet. My biggest concern is that she most likely doesn't know how to get home.

If its raining she is going to be 'down' I doubt she can fly with soaked feathers- unless she has found a place to keep dry. Look around your area, offer a reward, and see if you can put out something over the radio "Lost parrot, if spotted please contact.."
Brown heads arent the most usual parrot- hopefully she will be easy to find! |

I don't know if you live in the city, but I agree with Freedomflight. If it's raining, she's not flying so, my guess, she hasn't gone far. I would make up flyers and start delivering them to all neighboring homes ASAP. Once the rain stops, people can start looking in their yards. The first 24 hours are the most crucial.
