My New Meyers; "sidney"

Hi all...just want to update everyone that we have decided on the Meyers and he really is sweet. He deffinitely seems very inteligent and really seems to listen and tries to repeat what we are saying. He is only three months old so we cant really expect too much right away, but we are working with him every day. We have been using the same few short sentences (hello, i'm sidney, i love you).
He has been eating well so far and really loves to be around people.
If anyone can remember we were up in the air about this cockatoo that i really fell in love with. I can not stop thinking about that bird...I mean, i really love sidney, but actually the way i am about animals, I would take the best care i possibly can to a sparrow...
Can anyway make me feel better about my decision...not that i regret, I guess i just miss the affection of the cockatoo...it really is selfish reasons.
Talk to you all very soon.
George

You have to realize that with a little time, your Meyer's will become much more affectionate. She is in a new place, with new people, and is only 3 months old. Peeps didn't do much when I first brought her home, she was about as young as your Meyer's. I'm sure she is much younger than the cockatoo you were speaking of that was so cuddly. Your Meyer's will be a cuddle bug too. A lot of times when they are babies they haven't learned much about snuggling yet. Also, my Meyer's didn't start talking until she was close to a year old.

She is also probably a little overwhelmed at her new surroundings. Any bird would be a little overwhelmed.

Thank you for all your kind words..this site really helps a lot and just know that i am doing the right thing...My girlfriend and I love our animals so much and we spend so much time just caring for them..that is really all we do aside from working...it really is a lot of work with two cats, two ferrets, a boa constrictor and a bearded dragon, not to mention Sidney...
But we really do love them all...
Thanks aGain...George
