what are the smallest well talking parrots

Hi we are thinking of adding a baby to our family and would like some help. What are the smallest well talking parrots and can you tell me anything about them.

We already have a Sun and love his personality, he is very loving, but will probably never talk much. We would like to end up caging them together is possible. Which is another reason for small.

Thanks for all your help.

Male tiels are pretty good talkers. Prob too small to add with a sun. Quakers? It all depends on the bird really. Ringnecks? Depends. Getting a bird for the sole purpose of talking is not a good idea. the only way you can guarentee a talking bird is if you buy one that already talks.

We are not getting it for the sole purpose of talking. If whatever we choose does not end up talking that is fine too. We want to know about the ones have the ability to talk and there personalities. We saw over 20 different birds and drove all over the place before choosing Max, just trying to do a bit of research. Thanks.

To speak or not to speak, we will love it all the same.

Looking forward to all the advise I can get. Thanks

Lol, Alex's are known to be good talkers but if he/she doesnt talk I wouldnt mind at all. Cockatiels are beautiful sweet birds. My tiel Daisy is 17 and he talks a bit but not as much as most male tiels (yes is a male). Quakers are funny naughty but really cute birds that can be pretty good talkers. Kakariki's have been known to talk but that is not their most known quality, they are hyperactive birds and probably too hard to find in the states though.

You only have 2 weeks to go, are you going nuts crazy yet??? I would be. Back to another baby, My husband really dosnt want a teil, although I had a teil about 16 years ago and he was a very smart bird "hated my husband" who is now an X, smart bird, although he never did talk. He loved my daughter who was at the time 2 years old, he would follow her all around the house and bite my X.

I think he is leaning twards some kind of small parrot, a quaker, mexican redheaded amazon, blue crown conurel, but he would like it to at least display the possibility of talking and if so what one might be more apt to talk.

The other thing that is very important is for it to be socialable with both of us and a no bighter. I am afraid of the bigger parrots. My Max, sun is sweet and loving to both of us.

budgies, my husband, who is from England, thinks you might be refering to what we call parakeet here in the US. If so he wants something a bit biger. Thanks for the input, let me know if you have any input on something a little bit biger other than a teil.

I am getting an alex because I have heard they dont always bond to just one person, they can be a family bird. I am more afraid of the smaller birds cos they are most likely to bite. Not really afraid of the smaller birds but of my experience they bite more than bigger ones....hurt more too lol. Love birds and peach faces....OUCH!! Quakers dont tend to talk as loudly but are a more robotic sound. Remember that you will be having it in with a sun and may just end up copying the sun's scream.

i would say stick with the conures then. I would also say it's never a good idea to assume you can house two different types of birds together. Some very nasty fights could erupt...
