BLUE BONNET

I have a blue bonnet and was wondering if anyone else has one. I would love to hear about them.

I think you may be the only one... You are the first Blue Bonnet owner that I have met since I've been on bird sites for around 3 years now...

Anyway, tell us about your birds!!! I would love to hear about them, especially the blue bonnet! I myself have the birds that I own listed under my signature... course, one of them actually owns me.... LOL Bourkes are one of them, and they sure are great!

FRODO.................my spoilt rotten blue bonnet. He was born on the 13th September 2003. I have had him since he was just over a week old. A totally awesome bird, but...................he is very aggressive
He is OK with me, but physically chases my children down the hallway and draws blood when he gets hold of them. I have often wondered if birds can have a split personality. I knew that when I got him they do have a nasty nature (when they want) but he is so placid when he is around me. Although if the kids come too close to me, he gets upset with me, and bites me. I still love him whatever the case. We spend a lot of time together.
I also have a hand reared Rosa Bourke. His name is Musky. He is nearly 18 months old. Musky is an excellent whistler. He whistles the tune..............They're not gonna get us.........The song that TATU sings. My husband taught him. He can whistle a lot of other tunes too.

It is in their nature, unfortunately. Musky our little Rosa Bourke, is the complete opposite. He is gorgeous, and loves everyone. I actually posted some photos on the site.

Frodo is a very striking bird. You don't see many of that species here in the U.S. I've never been fortunate to see one in person. What a privilege to meet him and you, plus get a perspective on such an unusual companion species.

Will his coloring stay like it is, or do they change as they mature?

MR FRODO

His colouring will stay much the same, maybe his face will get a bit brighter. He still has some growing to do. He weighs about 75gms at the moment and when he matures he should be about 80 - 85 gms. And he is nearly a foot long from head to toe.

Good news, I'm back.

But Sadly my dear little mate Frodo has passed on. (Under tragic circumstances). It took me a long time to get over his death, because we had such a great relationship. Finally after a long time greiving I purchased another Blue Bonnet. Azizi. He is never going to take Frodo's place, but he certainly helps fill the void. Full of spark as well, we have endless hours together, along with the rest of the clan.

It's great to be back. I am in the process of going through my computer to get some photo's to upload.
