Unhappy My baby Casey

The last 2 days Casey has been acting like he wasn't feeling well. I took him to the vet this morning. They say he is very ill. I was told he might not make it. They have him in an incubator with oxygen and are tube feeding him. They are doing tests and just called to say his white blood cell count is extremely high and they are doing more testing. I don't know how he could get so sick so fast.
Please, say a prayer for my baby. I've had him since he was just a little baby and I adore him. He looked so weak this morning all he did was hold onto me. I hated to leave him there but they had to keep him.
I'll keep you posted on what's going on.
With the estimate at the vet so far, I figure when he comes home we'll all be living on pellets for awhile.

That is the bad thing about birds, they mask illness so well, that you usually don't know till it is too late. Do they have any idea so far?

No idea at all. They are still testing but can't take anymore blood right now. I'm at work just holding my breath.

Just an update--just talked to the vet and they say Casey is definately worse than he was this morning. She said he's not even picking his little head up now. He is being treated for clamidia (sp) and something else though they still aren't sure what's wrong. I feel so damn helpless. All I want to do is stay there with him. He's never been away from us since we got him as a baby. I know he must think I abandoned him because he's sick. DAMN I hate this.

I am SOOO sorry to hear your bad news. Can you visit him? Maybe if you see him during the day he will KNOW you DIDNT leave him. I always have the same worries, even with vacations. We will keep you in our thoughts. Please keep us updated.

Thank you everybody for your thoughts and prayers. I'm just anxiously waiting for the vet to open this morning, in about 4 hours, so I can get an update. Last night I came in from work and saw his empty cage and almost got sick. Morgan was in a very foul mood because I think she knows something is wrong. I've never heard her scream so loud and so long. I'll post an update as soon as I talk to the vet.
