For me loudness doesn't bother me as much as constant noise does. For example my cockatiels can be very loud to me because they can go for 5-10 minutes at a time wolf whistling, chirping, and just making a racket. It can be hard to talk in a room with the three of them when the really get going!!!
Now, my Senegal (not a red belly, but still a Poicephalus) was not constantly making noise. He mostly made chirps, purrs, and beeps which were pleasant and cute. The loudest thing he did was a very occasional scream when he was scared and his contact call, a loud screech. The screech was higher pitch that a 'tiels voice, but in my opinion more tolerable because it wasn't continual. I think if I had an uphappy screaming bird my opinion would be different, but Poi's aren't known to be like that anyway. Before I got my WC Pionus I went on Youtube and watced videos of them. This gave me an idea of personalities and what their voice can sound like. Maybe you could try that too??

I would say it depends on the individual. My one year old baby is pretty loud about me leaving the room, being in the cage when I am in the room, on top of the shower rod, by the window, while playing.. you get the idea. However I think I may have encouraged that by playing loud games with her...
My eight year old Senegal is not loud in any sense. He does have a piercing whistle that will hurt your ear if he is on your shoulder, but uses it only about 4x a week. |

My red-bellied baby is pretty quiet, relatively speaking. He won't make any noise in the night, and will call for a few minutes in the morning when he gets up if I don't come and say hi to him (but that's only after I've woken up and made myself known), but if I ignore him he'll stop. I usually go down when hes quieted down and give him a treat. He'll sometimes start chattering in very charming bird-talk when there are lots of people in the room and they're talking--sort of joining in on the conversation. That's a bit loud and obnoxious, but if you make eye contact and include him in the conversation he quiets down, too. I would say he's the quietest bird I've had yet--and I've lived with an african grey, a sun conure, and a lovebird before.
