Sid's Story

We picked Sid up around 6 months ago from a friend who needed to find him a new home because her breeding pair were picking on him, I fell in love with Sid from the photos I'd seen so George gave me first refusal

Here's a pic of him a month after he arrived, he came looking better than this but got worse before it got better....

Getting better..

Still a way to go...

Nearly perfect...

And finally - Sid a week ago...

Sid is a Kakariki thought to be male until SHE laid an egg a month ago, hence the name Sid

It is amazing what love, attention and of course the lack of bullies will do for a little fellow. Glad that you found a place in your heart.

hey guys I moved this thread to parrots because I thought it was a better home for it. I realize the softbill thread says "other" but it really means other birds like softbills and such. I was getting confused when I went into the softbill thread. Thats is a grreat story - I wish more ppl would get involved in kaks!! They are very hard to find here.

Thanks for all your lovely comments guys, we didn't have to do much to be honest, my first Kakariki Kiwi nursed her back to health. We lost Kiwi around a month ago when she had an egg burst inside her, she is greatly missed, and the bird that started my MBS (Multiple Bird Syndrome) off lol We have a male called Dink in with Sid now and they are just great together, we didn't want Sid mourning, Kaks mourn hard because they are such a sociable species - I'll post some pictures of Dink in a minute, he's a handsome one for sure

Lori I tried to delete my post when I realised it should have been somewhere else but I couldn't find how to do it - thank you for moving it for me, you're a star - and I'm a bit useless eh?
