escaped bird flying around the neighbourood

my african grey got out 2 days ago and has been hanging around the house talking to us from the surrounding trees,he even followed me to the boatlaunch down the street needless to say i could'nt go out on the boat because i was worried he'd folllow me out on the water and be to far from shore if he got tired and didn't want to land on the boat.He has been talking to us in the mornings and evenings but won't come back home. Does any body have any suggestions on what to do about getting him back? I have put his cage outside with food and water,it's going on day 3 now...

You could try putting his cage outside with the door open. He may decide to go in. Best of luck!

Here is a trick. Get a box, a stick and string. Hold the box up with the stick, tie the string onto the stick so you can pull the box down. The box will be on an angle (the stick holds up the box) and you have to hide so your gray can’t see you so the string has to be long enough for you to pull it far away. Put a trail of the favorite treats and snack leading into the box. When they gray goes in the box pull the string so the box shuts.

It may work it may not but it’s a shot at least. Hopefully the gray will go into the box. It’s a silly idea but had to post it.

how high is it in the trees? If it is low enough I have heard of people using a hose on them to get them down!

If you have a treat bag that you give him treats out of, try going outside and making the noise...

I've heard if you pour seed into a tray for them all the time, if they escape and you do this they will heard their favorite treat noise and come down for it....

WOW! 3 years and he's still outside. He must love you since he stays near. That's very unfortunate.. but fortunate at the same time.
