New Pi addition...YAY!!

Hi there, I was posting in the grey area with some stressful issue and realized that I had exciting news I could post as well.

I have a friend whose Grandma breeds Pi's.......I went over there cuz i thought it would be fun to see all the birds. What I found was a little elderly woman with way too much to handle. This was like a wherehouse for bird breeding. I was so sad. There was a pi over in the corner by himself. I went up to him and he got really excited and started doing circles through the cage. She was amazed telling me 'that bird doesn't like anyone'........then to my surprise she brought out a carrier and gave him to me. Told me he wouldn't breed anyway for her. He is 5 years old.

So now Macky is home with me and already is so excited by everyone in our house. I have read about them but never spent alot of time. This bird is a lover. He is scared of hands and doesnt want to be handled but curious enough to want to venture to the top of his cage and get scritches.

Now my mind keeps worrying about the rest of the birds over there

Anyway I will be here reading up on him and learning. So I am looking forward to learning more about this species.

Congrats on your new "baby"! It really is disenchanting to see the way some folks care about their birds. It was nice that she gave him to you though!

Pi's are not really "hands on" birds. Jezebel will allow me to scritch her head for hours, but doesn't like me to touch her anywhere else. She will tolerate it, but it's clear she doesn't like it.

Congrats on the new baby!!

Oh man too bad we are up on No Ca border.......I KNOW she would part another.

But the truth be told this 'Free' bird has now cost me over $600 since aquiring in December....but happily that has all gone toward bringing him back to good health. Which now he is thriving......
