Does my pionus have a cold?

Ok I have been bird searching for awhile starting out wanting b & G macaw, then decided I would get a yellow collar macaw, then started reading about the pionus. I found out a pet shop about 45 min away from my house had one so I went to see it I fell in love with "him" I held off went home he was all I was thinking about so I went back the following weekend and bought him. He is about 7 months old, I picked him up on January 25. He seems to yawn quite a bit and I have heard him sneezing here and there through out the day. Another thing I have noticed the last couple of days when I get him out his feet feel cold, after holding him they warm up. Today I attached a light thinking maybe he just isn't warm enough. I have a woodstove and a furnace for back up so the house is never less then 70 degrees. His eyes and nostrils look normal. Should I be concerned?

If he looks and acts normal and is eating normal and his poo looks normal I wouldnt be too concerned. He may be dust sneezing. But since he is new to you I wouldnt be past getting him in for a well vet visit. Your home temp is fine.

it's a good idea in any case to get a new birdie to an avian vet for a check-up... you can ask your questions there, and the vet can get to know you and your bird (which is really helpful if you would have an emergency).

generally, it's not unusual to hear some sneezing... as long as the nostrils are clear, he should be fine.... as huntress said, check poop and make sure he's eating well....

he's a great looking guy btw - congratulations
