Feeding Question

My white cap is eating her dry food but has an aversion to anything besides dry food, no fruit etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can expand her diet? Do they even need anything more than the basic diet?

I don't know what your dry food is. Pellets or seeds? But your bird should be getting fresh or frozen veggies and some fruit like apple or grapes. If he won't eat them at first, keep trying. If it is a hand fed bird then it's odd that he doesn't know about fresh foods. What did the person you got him from feed?

My white cap(4/5 years old) always has a variety of pellets and a tiny tiny bit of seed mixed together.
He eats fruits and veggies too, but if we give him something new he kind of just eats around it so to say. He loves anything spicy or hot..bell peppers are his fav. What Ive found to work with him is if i go up to him with two pieces of the new food in my hand i eat a piece then give him the other..he seems to get the idea that its ok to eat if im eating it lol. But they all have there own tastes just like us (ex: my grey loves kiwi but my pi wont touch it) My advice to you is to test out different foods and see what she seems to like more than others. Start with grapes or banana for fruits and maybe carrots and green beans for veggies and eat some with her to show her how yummy they are! This is just what works for me, it my not be the same with you, but it never hurts to try right!

*try putting a few of her pellets in with it or you could try monkey chow*
