He's looking good! You might try saving the images in JPG format... if the files are being sent to you in pdf format, could you have Vicki try saving them in JPG format instead?

Thanks Monica. She sent them in bmp format. I converted them to jpg, but they were too big. The bmp was also too big. So I converted them to pdf. I was hoping they would just pop up, not be attachments.

Isnt Max just the cutest bird?

Max sure is! You could try editing the images to make them smaller as well, in JPG format. Look in my signature for the Irfanview Photo Editing link, if you don't have your own paint program to resize the pics.

I cant seem to convert the pics. My friend says he is doing well. He is eating like a little pig, including the fruits and veges. :) He is not friendly yet and does try to bite. We are wondering if it is cage territorial issues. I read about someone on this board who rescued a male Maximillian with the similiar behavior, attributable to cage territorial issues. She says she takes him out of the cage on a perch, I think to go into an outside cage or playgym. Anyway, he is doing as well as can be expected. It is still early though, and it may take months before he trusts anyone. For the short amount of time that I saw him, I did notice that he would bow his head against the cage...like a reflex to get his head scratched, but he would always quickly change his mind.

Hi rockybird,

yes, I am the one with the male Maximilian. Paco is still rather unpredictable but mostly because I still have to read his signs correctly. I cannot reach into his cage without him trying to bite me. So I usually let him come out which he likes and then wrap a towel around my arm and place him on a playstand. Then I go ahead and clean the cage, food and water. I work with him every day. He is social and wants to be close. He will let me pat his head once away from the cage and he loves it.
Paco is slowly trying to explore his surroundings. Although he is fully flighted he rarely does fly. This morning he climbed from his cage onto the window sil. He is out most of the day.
I am glad to hear that your pi / or your friends pi is eating well. Paco now started eating dried fruit. Nothing fresh yet. But hopefully he will.
It really takes time for the bird to be comfortable around you. Good luck with Max. Pionus are great birds and thank you for getting him out of his bad situation.

Paco does indeed sound like Max. I am hoping Max will come around, but I think it is still too early.

I wanted to say that Paco is strikingly beautiful. If I remember correctly, you also gave him a better home. :)
