Question Pionus mating behavior

I was wondering what is the mating behavior/signs for WC's? I know I will have to deal with it eventually but was wondering if there is any special things I should look out for or if it will just suddenly be here.

I also heard the "pionus wheeze" for the first time the other day and it scared me half to death! I had him with me for some cuddle time and was scratching his head and he suddenly started wheezing...I thought he was having a heart attack. Now he does it everytime I pet him

LOL, She looks just like Sophie did before she found Zeke, lol. I finally got the folder of info on Monty from his previous owner who got him from his original owner and apparently he can get very protective of "his" person. He hasn't shown that to me obviously and she said she never had a problem either but I'm going to make sure my family handles him more often when they come over. I also found out he is 10 years old and was never DNA tested so he might be a she for all I know, lol. The really nice thing is that it has a list of all his favorite foods so time to go shopping!

I've found Jezebel is more cage protective. It's just me and my daughter here, and my daughter cannot get Jeze off of her cage. She WILL attack. She doesn't even like when Becca is in the room, BUT......once Jeze is away from her cage, she'll step up to anyone, including Becca.

I always thought DNA sexing was a good idea, especially for multiple bird owners. I decided to have my 2 done because I didn't want to worry about the possibility of egg binding, and now I know for a fact that Jezebel is the only female here, so I watch her closely. My vet even showed me how to feel the pelvic bone, the space will open up when their getting ready to lay an egg.

I agree and I think I'm going to get him DNA tested just to be sure. Even after 10 years of not laying an egg that's no guarantee! His previous owner said she never had a problem with him being possesive of her or his cage so we'll have to see what happens. It says that he did not like the original owner's husband or son from day one but we all know that some birds just don't like some people.
