I don't leave the towel, he sits on my shoulder where he has usually munched on the goodies, then I hold the towel, he wipes his beak back & forth then noshes on it for a minute or two, then he's off to find something else to play with, eat, destroy.
He is totally spoiled, he doesn't like to eat messy food from his bowl, he insists I feed it to him, often with a spoon or fork. Example, we sat and had eggs on Sunday, he wanted the yokes but only from my fork, didn't want to try to get it himself, and in the evenings before bedtime he gets a slice of fresh apple (again, I'm holding it, lazy twit). But that's ok, ususally he eats on his own from his bowl, and we get bonding time when I'm "feeding" him. He used to wipe his face off on me, my face, my nose, my hair, my shirt, whatever he could, but then I had a towel on me when we were eating eggs because it was especially messy and he liked it better than me for a napkin. I wanted to make sure it was normal and ok for him to chew on it like that, rubbing it around in his beak.

No prob then. I have seen birds get toes stuck in the loops that towels are made of. This can be VERY bad!
