Smile 4 week old white cap pionus baby coming soon.

Well i have good and bad news.....jadyn my quaker baby at 5 months.....died 2 days ago. she was sick. i went to my local bird store talked to the owner of the store and she knows me well. she told me about a white cap coming in on sunday at 4 weeks old. we are going to do payment plans 250 a month for 3 months that includes cage. which is nice! she new i needed a new companion but not right away because im still mourning the loss of my baby i raised. this 3 months gets my mind and heart ready for a new baby. we do not know about pionus' im only exp in B&G Macaws and quakers and lovebirds. which im breeding loves now. dont worry im exp at it. i went to my fav avian vet and he showed me the ropes a long time ago before deciding to even think about breeding such small babies. but any info on white caps would be greatly appreciated. personal experiances with your bird. on sunday in going to the parrot store to see my baby i will take pics and all for you guys.

(love you jadyn. you will always be my #1 baby.)

I'm sorry to hear about your baby but congrats on the white cap! Mine is the best bird. He is quiet, laid back and totally different from my other birds. I had always heard that Pi's can be a bit standoffish but Monty isn't at all. He is a huge cuddler but he can be really, REALLY stubborn. When he doesn't want to move he will hold on as tight as he can with his feet and lean as far away from me as possible without moving. I have only had him since September but he hasn't tried to bite me (yet).

Pi's have a tendency to be overweight so diet is important. I have also read that they can get gout if they have too much protein. Monty loves his fresh veggies and cooked mash more than his pellets so it's not really a problem with him. He also gets seed and the occasional almond in the shell in his foraging toys which he loves. He loves his foraging toys and will eat pretty much anything I put in them. I have definitely became more creative with toys since I've had him. His other favorites are anything with wood and leather. He unties knots in all his toys and takes them apart daily and then squeaks and squeals until I put them back together again. He is a character for sure!

Congrats again on the new baby and I can't wait to see pics and hear all about him!

That is soooo cool. How fun to be able to see your baby as he grows. I just got my WC yesterday and I'm so in love. You will have tons of fun with him. Check out Royal's pictures on another thread!
