anybody have more than one?

If you have more than one pionus, and they are different species, do I need to worry about them becoming a bonded pair, becoming more aggressive and hormonal, and possibly mating? Is it better to get 2 of the same sex? I have a WC, and am on a waiting list for a bronze wing, but found a dusky and I know I won't see many more opportunities to get a dusky. Not sure if I should even be considering either. After quaranteen I would like to keep them both in the same birdroom with stands and nets to play on but am not sure how they will do out of cage together. any thoughts?

The woman who runs the LifeofPis.com blog has two different kinds, and I think they sort of tolerate each other. I've seen videos of different Pis who get along well though.

I think the chance of them bonding to each other is similar to other types of medium-sized parrots. They could be best buds or hate each other, but they tend to be pretty laid back so I think that if they didn't like each other, it wouldn't be a blood bath.

If they do like each other, I think there's plenty you can do to keep them friendly and tame, including caging them separately and handling them lots.

thanks jenseits, enjoyed the blog! How does your Pi do with your conure? I love the name Mica for a pi because their colors are just like Mica the way they shimmer.

They can't stand each other. Stewie wants to kill her and Mika, quite naturally, thinks he's evil incarnate. She might have gotten along with him fine if he hadn't tried to attack her at every opportunity, but given how aggressive he's been with her, I think her mind is made up now. They still can't be within 8-10 feet of each other or Stewie will try to get into a brawl (and he would win).
