Gidget is Home!

Gidget, a WCP, joined our family yesterday. She is very timid, but will occasionally let me give scritches. I'm sure it is a matter of time before she warms up! Poor thing is scare of her cage, however. Do you think I should take the toys out?

Thanks!

She's so sweet looking! congrats on the new addition! I'm sure she will warm up in time, she's just getting used to her new home.

Congratulations!

You could try taking the majority of toys out, and add them back slowly as she gets more settled in. Take them all out and see which one or two she seems comfortable with.

congratulations she is gorgeous. Mine was very shy too for first few weeks but that didn't last! I would start with a couple toys and add them back once she is more settled in. Dreamer likes 'non threatening toys'. She's not the type to play with anything big or metalic. Bigger than parakeet or cockatiel toys, conure size work well. Dreamer likes scritches best first thing in the morning and in the evening, when she's most relaxed. Enjoy her! thanks for sharing the picture!

Thanks for the advise everyone! Gidget is warming up nicely, she gets nervous if hands get her her playtop, but other than that she is cuddly when on me. My two year old is able to touch her (SUPERVISED!!) without any problems. Now I just need her to eat some fresh foods!

happy to hear she is settling in! Dreamer is always ravenous in the morning so we take away her seed at night when she goes to bed and give her fresh food in the morning on a playstand with us when we eat breakfast to get her to eat veggies.

cute thing I noticed about Dreamer, and saw another on youtube do the same thing, they scratch their heads when they want scritches in the place that they want you to give them scritches. soo cute. is Gidget the same way?

She's beautiful! I'm glad so many people are getting pionus. I think they are very under rated.
I actually had hubby talked into one but it didn't end up happening. :(
