The October issue of BirdTalk magazine has a great little article about Senegals and even mentions the breeder I got mine from.
Be prepared to be dominated by that little green and orange monster.
Out of all my birds two of which are Greys, one budgie and one 'Tiel my Senegal is the loudest and most ornery bird of the entire flock. She is also the most devious. Loveable one second and Satan in feathers the next.
That all said I still would not want to live without her in my life.
Congrats on the new baby and I can't wait to see what you think of Senegals once you have one.

I have a Senegal called Worple. He was one on the 23rd July and is a great little bird. He can be very loud at times so be warned. As yet he does not talk and maybe never will but he does wolf whistle, phone rings and blows kisses.

Despite many efforts for him to bond with everyone in the family, he is my bird. He will tolerate my husband and children (Jessica 11, Jack 7) but does prefer me.

Worple is a real little character and our house would not be the same without him.

By the way your kids are gorgeous.

i keep hearing that they will bond with one person ...thats ok im the bird person of the house..my wife will probably try to play with the sennie but i dont think she will be upset if he doesnt go to her.. i also kept hearing (before coming to these post) that sennies where the *apartment* parrots because they where the quietest out of the parrots. now everyone is saying that its not true .. they are still quieter than conures right?

I love my sennie, but yes, she is a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde bird. She'll hang with my boyfriend when I'm not home, but if she has a choice she wants me. She can be pretty loud if she's not getting her way, but nothing like a conure or some Quakers I've heard, either. Most of the time she'd rather beat up her toys or sit on the couch watching TV and getting her head scratched.

Mine is starting to act one-person, with me, but she is still handled by all members of the household so hopefully she will be socialized to all members. She is quieter than my caique, about as noisy as my tiels. She is definitely quieter than a jenday or sun conure.

I've had Sammy for getting close to 13yrs now..is she a one person bird? She was when she was much younger. It took her almost 10 yrs to accept my hubbie as one of the flock..as for the kids- forget it, and anyone else for that matter. I do love my duckbutt for all she's worth, tho no longer a duckbutt, she is a topless dancer. Samm's been plucking for about 5 yrs now and has been vet checked 6 ways to Sunday and is perfectly healthy..me thinks she is a female wishing to start a family, but since that's not gonna happen, I accept her for how she is.

Sam's not a big talker, but she does has a screech that will pierce your eardrums, but overall, she is a very quiet bird. Conure comparision? There is none- conures will do it longer and louder than a senegal any day!!
