Arelynn!!!

Last night, my family and I went to pick up our little 3-month-old Brown Headed Poicephalus. Little "Aree" would be arriving in the West Jet cargo office. We sat in our van paitently as 9:00 ticked on to 9:20.

A large white van pulled up next to us and began unloading all sorts of crates into the cargo office.

We walked inside, and began talking to two girls expecting some cats, to pass the time. Soon enough, both pets were in the office, chirping and meowing.

"One parrot" said the man, placing Aree's carrier on the counter, "And three cats."

We were all estatic. The kind ladies next to us were telling the baby parrot how gorgeous and adorable she was. And she was!!! I stood there in shock, staring at her. My knees were trembling and my stomach was tied up in knots.

"Aree," I said to myself quietly. The little bird peeped and came over to me. I smiled and pet her through the bars. "Hi Aree, i'm Hayley." In reply, Aree whistled and bobbed her head.

The ride home was crazy. Her carrier sat on my lap as I talked and talked and whistled to her. I was estatic! A year of waiting did me MUCH good, and I still couldn't believe that it was a dream.

When we got home, my family crowed around her carrier as we took her out and placed her in her cage for sleep time. This morning, we played with her and let her explore. She really lies my PJ's!

We were amazingly lucky to get such a wonderful little doll. She's playful, outgoing and very active! I can't wait to take her out again later!

Flight

That is really an intense feeling waiting for "your" pet at the airport. I always cry with such joy when I see them!! I am such a cry baby sometimes!

I only have had dogs shipped but I would feel the same with a bird as well. Congrats on the safe trip and on your new Arelynn. You sound so happy which make smile from ear to ear as you can just "hear" it in your typed words.

May you have a long story together........keep us posted and take lots of pictures :)

Many pictures have been taken!

I just have to download them now... if we can find the charger that is . Aree is such a little angel! Company came over today, and she's not frightened at all, she even jumped on the finger of one of them!!!

Jonsie (my cat) is glaring at us all and meowing outside of the door . He's not allowed in our room anymore so he's getting pretty jealous!

I'll try to post pictures ASAP! And thank you for all of your compliments!

I bought the cage at the garage sale... the smaller one. Right now it seems lamost too big for her ;). We're getting a new cage ASAP, there's a nice one at a Parrot shop up in the north... Comes with a playtop and everything!

I must be an amateur at downloading pictures... I got them onto my computer, but the "download pictures" button isn't agreeing with me. I'll keep trying, hopefully they'll get on here at a reasonable time!!!

Aree is the most wonderful bird. Its like we've had her forever!!! She's so confiedent in us and her surroundings, she prefers hanging out with us and preening my face. She's eating everything she's given, with the ocassional thankfull chirp.

I just have to teach Cassie, otherwise known as "_Cass_" on birdboard to shut the bedroom door after she's finished playing with Aree so that our cat doesn't get in. He's already tried to get her already, and I would't trust them alone for a millisecond.

Thanks again for the compliments! I'll post updates every so often on her, she's going to the vet tomorrow.

Great update! Yes, watch the cat carefully - don't want a mishap occuring. Let us know what the vet says too!
