Buddy doesn't want to go back in his cage
My Senegal,Buddy, doesn't want to go back in his cage after I have had him out . I do exactly what I'm supposed to do(I think) I come up behind the perch and keep the perch in front of his chest so you'd think he HAS to just climb onto the perch...right? well, Buddy turns his entire body around...neck, and chest, and climbs back on my arm and starts cooing. he obviously does not want to go back, but be with me. He just keeps purring, cooing, until I finally have to literally pick up his entire body with my left hand and put him on the perch. It really makes me feel bad to do this becasue I know he wants to just be held and loved. I'd keep him with me all the time except we have 12 cats and three dogs who also need my love and attention.
Any ideas? |

You shouldn't feel bad about picking the bird up by it's body unless your doing it badly.
Sometimes it's needed untill he can work it out to stay in his cage. You could consider giving him treats after putting him back in his cage to re-enforce him going back in. Just pick him up, put him on the perch and give him a small treat. |
