I got my bird when he was 16 years old -- he was neurotic to say the least (and I'm being kind). Now, he's the most gentle and loving little creature you'd ever want to have around -- at least to me he is. He doesn't scream anymore, doesn't bite me -- he's so bonded to me, it's scary. In fact, I started to worry because he doesn't scream -- not in the morning nor in the evening.

From what I'm learning, it's the bird that does the picking and not the other way around.

Generally speaking, it's not a good idea for a novice to take on an unweaned bird (but there will always be exceptions), and it's not a good idea to get a pet around the holiday seasons (nor get a pet as a gift).

With that in mind, I've had Noel since Dec 22nd, 2001... I was 13, too. Although she's not bonded to me like Tishrei's bird, she isn't the same bird that was given to me. She's really turned around you could say.... as she had quite a bit of luggage.... but she is actually one of the quietest birds here... and a conure to boot! Charlie on the other hand, well he's the complete opposite!
