Smile my meyers baby...

i got her today.....i saved her from some lady off craigslist that obviously didnt understand what proper cage size meyers needed so im going this weekend to the bird show and i will buy her a nice roomy cage for her. pics will be up tomorrow hopefully but she is toooooo sweet. her name is baby. she will be 5 months on nov. 27. she is underweight and i will also be taking her to the vet. but im letting her eat pretty much whatever she wants that isnt harmful to her. shes diggin it. lol. she is very hand tame and always wants to be on her mama (me) lol. shes a doll.

she is biting all the time. she gets freaked out when you pet her. but once you start to pet her scratch her head (she loves that) shes ok. but she bit my nose today. i think she is afraid of hands.....sometimes. shes 5 1/2 months old now and is biting thats no good.

thats what happens when you dont socialize them properly while they are very young. we have never had that problem with any of our meyers.

Give her some time, she has had a rough start to life it sounds, and she will need some time to build trust. How does she know you will not abandon her? I suggest you take it slow and start to build a nice trusting relationship. Meyers are very sensative birds that can have their feelings hurt very easily, so make sure never to give negative reinforcement. If you yell at her, it is possible she will never trust you again.

I noticed with my meyers that she will bite me and be angry if i have been away longer than usual and not being abel to let her out o her cage that day. So give her time and be with her as much as possible

ok so ive been spending a LOT more time with my baby so what now? i mean like she is still nippy she still doesnt trust me. im not going to leave her. i want to train her to do comands like she knows step-up and step-down i treat her with spray millet for that but she is getting tired of spray millet. so what do i give her. she is so picky with her food. she wont eat anything you give her. she barly eats what she has now she only likes sunflower seeds. she will not eat pellets. and she will not eat fruits or veggies. at all. now she does like pinto beans sometimes. she has only ate them once and ive given her beans four times. and the first time i gave it to her she ate it. anyway......how do i get her to stop bewing so "iffy" with me when she nips at me its like shes afraid of my hand. but she knows im not going to hurt her. i dunno. i just wish my baby loved me more. i wake up first thing i do is let her eat drink water and then get her out i get her out not hours at a time because i have 3 cats. but i get her out throughout the day a lot. 15-30 minutes at a time. may e 5-6 times a day. shes is getting enough sleep. she gets 10 hours a night. i just dont know i see all these people that have birds and they do everything. mine does nothing. i need help. links. threads. something help please. i have no idea what to feed her for treats when i praise her. i say good girl really cute and happy like. what do i need to do she is almost 6 months old and i need to make her trust me otherwise she will never if i dont teach her as a baby. help! also ive been doing earthquake to her when she does bite and it makes her bite even more and harder. what do i do to tell her to stop. i say "NO biting" a lot she doesnt seem to get the picture.
