thats pretty expensive, if the bird is not tame and healthy (idk if he is tame or not, or if the bird is healthy). we raise baby senegals and of course they are wonderful. i cant speak for a senegal that has been in a pet store though, who knows how they raised him, or if he is still handled or played with at all.

well the people at the pet store let me hold him and at first he was a little mean but after we got properly acquainted he calmed down and started to snuggle. he looks healthy to me i mean he has nice shiny feathers, clean vent, bright eyes, he was being pretty active. i really want to find him a home whether its with me or not but im afraid if i bring him home my sun conure wouldnt like him or me. how much do you sell baby senegals for? if you dont mind me asking.................do you have any?

if you do bring him home, just give your conure time to adjust to having a new bird. chances are, he wont like him at first, but with him, they should at the very least tolerate each other. all birds are jealous, period. i dont think ive ever seen a bird that wasnt jealous when its person was holding another bird. after you do a quarantine, just put them in the same room so they can look at each other and call back and forth to each other. you never know, they could end up being good friends!!
i have a pair of senegals right now that i think is on eggs, or going to be on eggs very soon. they are pretty sensitive and private, so im trying my hardest to not check on them. they have been mating for at least 2 weeks now, and they spend most of the time in their box. i sell mine for $400.

well thanks for the advice birdsnreps! ive talked to my mom and she says we are going to figure something out because neither of us can stand to see animals in a bad situation. if i do bring him home ill be sure to take a ton of pics and post them soon! do you think that since the bird comes with a really nice big cage $650 is too much? im sure the cage alone is worth at least three hundred because it is really really nice and i think it is brand new. well im gonna do some research and figure something out thanks again!
p.s. can someone tell me how loud senegals are, go ahead and compare to a sun conure if you want because that is what my other bird is

how big is the cage? if its big enough, and it comes with a stand, if needed, and cups, perches, and maybe some toys, it would be ok :) there is no use getting him with a cage that is too small cause you'll have to get another one anyway.
personally, i like their chirpy noises. sun conures make a shrill screech, i think if you can handle that, you can certainly handle one senegal's noise. i have met only a couple of people that couldnt stand the poicephalus noises, but most of them like or tolerate their sounds, they sound much different from conure screaming. total, i have 14 poicephalus birds, senegals, meyers, and red bellies that all make the exact same noises, and they are not nearly as loud as some of our other birds, like the alexandrines and the patagonians. usually the africans all chirp together in the mornings around feeding time, and whenever we come home from work or whatever, and 14 of them can get sorta loud, but i dont find it annoying or "too loud" at all, they dont scream or make noise all day like most of our other birds.

well the cage has probably about five or six different types of perches and cumps and a couple toys and it is attached to a stand with lockable wheels. im not at all good with guessing measurements but i think its around 36inches deep forty something tall (not including stand) and 36inches wide but thats probably far off but i personally think it is big enough that him and my sun could live together in it! of course they wont but you get the point! thanks again and ill be posting updates often

I have 2 senegals and a gac. I find the senegals loud in the morning but I have taught them to whisper. I go in when they start getting loud and just start whispering and they will listen to me and lower their voices. Its actually a lot of fun to teach them to do it. I love the senegals. They are sweet, loving and I have had mine for 4 and 5 years and have not really been bitten by either of them. Mine don't really talk but their personalities makes up for that. They are fun and funny.

That is exciting, so congrats! I just want to add that you might want to talk to the store about the birds living conditions and diet. Unfortunately, once you buy this bird they will just replace it with another poor bird in the same condition. Just a thought.
