Some people go with the theory of getting a bird of the opposite sex to yourself... but no rule or theory is set in stone.

My advise would be to go to the breeders home and see which bird picks you. Your heart will skip a beat and you'll know.

yea ive got two female pets myself and they do best with me. with sennies, both sexes make great pets, its all about the amount of quality of the socialization that the bird gets, thats whats gonna determine how good the bird is.

Two days ago i went to see the 2 sennies.
I was playing with them for about 2 hours.
I had them on my shoulder for a bit and they love to chew on my ears lol
They are both extremely nippy-) is this normal for babys?
The do not hurt at all , but just wondering if it is normal at that young age.
The breeder also has a large macaw , who went nutz for like 15 minutes.
He did not want to go back in his cage and started screaming and drew blood on the finger of one of the breeders lol
She made him step up on a wooden stick and managed to get him back in the cage.
Those macaw parrots look like they could do some damage

I have been reading several threads on the forum about senegals.
I saw lot of people saying that they can bite hard and can be vicious at times.Maybe is just me and i am underestimating them but i find it really hard to be scared of that little thing lol.
I am certain they can bite pretty hard but comon=) i am sure it is not gona be has bad has a white shark or a tiger lol
I saw a thread on another forum where this guy sayd that his pet senegal would launch at his neck and attack him and i could not help but laugh.
If such a small animal can cause some people to panick this much and even be forced to give th epet away for this , i honestly think they should not have pets in the first place.
i remeber when i first got my pit bull and a friend of my family kept telling me that i am crazy they are vicious and could kill you lol, then he started to tell me all this storys about people being attacked and almost died from pit bull and blah blah blah
well i had my pit bull for 7 years now , he has growled at me few times , if i leave the house sometimes he will try and bite my feets =) but in no way i am scared of him and all i need to do is raise my voice to him and he will put his tail in between his legs and go to his cage.Overall he is friendly with anyone , but he just likes to play rough and gets excited very easily. every time i wrestle with him i will have some bleeding on my forearms or hands from hsi teeth , but he is just playing and not really biting hard liek he could if he wanted to.
I can see those bigger birds could do some damage , but the little parrots liek sennies and caiques i just cant see them being this vicious little parrots that some people say they are.
I even saw a post where someone called his sennie a small pit bull lol

PS sorry for bad enlgish but not my first language p

like i said before...its the socialization that the baby gets from the very beginning....YOU need to teach the sennie how much pressure he is allowed to put on your skin, hes not gonna learn on his own. yes, babies do like to nibble, but thats all it is, nibbling. and yes, their little beaks can make quite the puncture wound, but if you read the bird's body language and you are consistant with your beak-pressure training, you will avoid most, if not all, bites. ive never been bitten by any of my poicephalus babies. they nibble on me, and i allow them to do that, but i train them that its bad to hurt their mum with their beaks.

My senegal, Trixie, is a female. When she is in her hormonal phase, I can't pick her up for 6 weeks. I can carefully pet her, but I have to watch out. Any other time of the year, she is a sweetheart, and a perfect parrot. When she bites, she chomps and grinds. She can be MUCH scarier than my greenwing. I do have a couple scars. That said, senegals have pretty clear body language and you carefully learn to watch their eyes, posture and feathers. The only time she tries to bite me now, is when I want to remove her from my person to her cage when she is not ready. I have her stick-trained for just such occasions.
