Anyone Out There Have A Jardine

Hi There , Ive Got A Cute Little Green Jardine. He Is About 2 Yrs Old Now And He Actually Talks More Than My 3 Yr Old Timneh. He Is Just So Funny And Has A Great Personality. He Does Have A Problem With Getting His Beak Caught In The Kind Of Toys That Are Like The Keyrings Or Circle Shaped Wire Not Soldered Together. Ive Had To Take Him To The Vet To Remove Him From His Toy. Now I Watch Very Carefully What He Gets

Hi, I too have a jardine. Named Kiwi. He (not sure if he or not) is quite the character too. He likes to lay on his back and play with his toys. He also has this red whiffle ball and he lays on his back and hold the ball in his feet then uses his tail to catch it then throw it back. Wayyyy tooo cute! Even my hubby was laughing. I haven't had the problems with the toys though. I have had him since halloween and he is first now destroying them. Oh well. He's having a good time. Looking forward to posts from you. Not too many jardine owners around.

my jardine is named popeye. its the way he walks across the floor, he also lays on his back and "fights " with his toys. it is hysterical. he likes to stick his head into his food bowl or his toy box bowl on the floor of his cage and yell into it to hear the echo. he is such a charachter i had him dna tested and he is def a male. he has xuch a diff personality than my timneh. jack is very reserved and dignified compared to clowny popeye.

Kiwi is about 7 mos old and does have the orange on his forehead, legs and a little on his wings. He has had this for quite awhile. I wonder if he isn't older than I was told. I understoon that they didn't get the coloring until about a year old. Who knows.

I'm thinking about getting a Jardine (a woman is looking to rehome him since he doesn't get along with her other birds; he would be an only bird at my house) and was wondering if anyone had any advice. It's so nice to be able to talk to such kind and knowledgeable people! I love birdboard! *ahem* Sometimes I get a little gushy; forgive me. :)

Kristen:

Joel actually raises them. Hopefully he'll see this thread and comment. I think they are really pretty little birds and almost bought one 6 years ago.

A woman I know has a Jardin who had had at least 3 homes, before she got him & he was still young - about 5 (?). He was a bit if a bighter appparently but he's well behaved now - but she grimaces when she said it took a while. He must be 20 now and loves to visit her sister's birds when it's holiday time.

He has very little red - some on his forehead, wing & a few red feathers on his ankles. Mikey talks but not a lot.
