Considering getting a Meyers????

Hi all, I am considering purchasing a Meyers parrot and I am wondering if Meyers are very dusty birds like cockatiels and greys? I have been reading up on them, but for some reason I can't find any information on dusty or not. With that being said I am assuming they aren't dusty, but I would just like any input from people who are owned by these little guys would be much appreciated!

No they are not real dusty little birds. My friend has one and its the cutest, sweetest little thing though. I think you would enjoy having one of these little guys, they are very sweet.

I own a Meyers and he seems to go through molting stages where there are feathers and dust particles on furniture and so forth, but for the most part they don't seem to leave alot of dust in the air. I can't tell that it is anymore dusty now that I have him then before. But just a warning all birds go through molting stages, so will be vacuuming and cleaning up a bit more during those times.

I had a Meyers named Casey for several years, he was one of the sweetest birds I've ever had, a real cuddler. They aren't super loud, compared to conures, etc. and they can be real clowns. Casey passed away very unexpectedly at around 4 years old with no outward signs of illness...I still miss him.

If you mist your cockatiel and meyer's daily they really shouldn't have a problem with dust.
