Anyone have a Jardine's Parrot?

I fell in love with the sweetest Jardine's parrot baby and I put a deposit on him on Thursday. Even though he's still being handfed (down to 2 feedings a day) he's a big boy and is already bigger than my conure, quaker, ringneck and meyers. It looks like he will be the biggest bird that we'll have. He is an absolute sweetheart and already knows how to give kisses and loves having his head scratched. I'm very excited to bring him home and I've already visited him twice since Thursday. :)

What I wanted to know is if anyone else has a Jardine's and what your experience has been with them. Any tips for a new mom? :)

Looks like I should get to take Dexter home on Monday! I'm so excited. I've been to see him every day and he is such a love. He bends his little head over for neck scratches and will sit completely still for 10 - 15 mins at a time while I scratch his head. He's not even home yet, and I'm spoiling him already! We've definitely bonded! I've already got his cage all set up with toys and perches, now I just need the bird. :)

I will post pics as soon as we have him home.

Jardine's are my favorites....I have a female Lesser J named Aukie. I got her at age 5. She used to alternate wanting scratches with very hard bites, but as she grew more confident, I was able to lessen the biting to almost nothing now. She is particular though, in certain situations, I WILL get a bite, so I just have to know what scares her and avoid it. She is a shoulder bird (would be happy being glued there permanently) and I have never had a facial bite (knock on wood). No, her moods are easy to read and she doesn't try to trick me like a grey would. My girl talks and talks, though she sounds like a little cartoon character and and I can't figure it out half the time, when it's not one of her regular phrases. She is funny, but she has a very loud 'I'm upset' screech. Actually she's one of my loudest, most earshattering birds when she does her screech, and that's the reason she was rehomed to me. But she is my most favorite parrot of all.

I have a Jardine's, Cherie. She just turned 18. I adopted her 3 years ago from a Sanctuary. When i got her she was cage bound, and now she's a shoulder bird. She is really quiet, but does have a small vocabulary and ways to make her needs known, like flapping her wings in my face to get a treat. I've taught her to wave in just 1 day.

She has a Stroller with a cage to fit inside and goes on walks outside. We live in an apartment building and everyone loves her. I've had adopted parrots for 20 years and she's the best. I tried to bring home a sun conure and cherie pulled out all her tail feathers and now will remain an only child!

Sorry for not posting any pics yet. This is definitely NOT for my lack of taking any, just for my lack of finding the battery charger for my digital camera so that I can download the photos I took -- LOL! I know it's here somewhere..... think... think.. think....

Dexter has been at home with us for a few weeks and he is AWESOME! He loves being out with either my husband or with me and getting his little head, or more correctly BIG head scratched for hours. He gets LOTS of handling and he's extremely talkative. It's funny, but he was pretty quiet when I would visit with him before brought him home -- mostly little chirps. Now that he's home and in with my other birds, he can be quite chatty! He's also a little piggie when it comes to eating. While my other birds seem to savor their food throughout the day, Dexter does a pretty good job of chowing down and emptying about 2/3 of the food bowl right away. No worries here about him maintaining and putting on weight. This little guy does not have a problem in that department. :)

I promise to have some pics here SOON as I locate that pesky charger. Unfortunately, I don't have a separate card reader or I wouldn't have this problem.

P.S. No charge for the petting zoo! Stop by anytime and all of my furry and feathered babies will gladly rub up against you!
