Lol, I agree they are too smart for their own good and ours.
Gabe got himself wrapped in the sisal rope on a toy not long after I got him. He nearly hung himself. Scared me half to death. Lately he's started pretending to be trapped by his toys in order to get my attention. The first time I believed him so I opened his cage to help him. He stepped right up on my hand like haha sucker. Earlier today, I left him in there to play by himself because I'm trying to teach him independent play. He did it 4 or 5 times in a row. He sticks his beak through this ring and acts like it's stuck. He reminds me of the boy who cried wolf. He's also learned how to open his cage door and the c clamp I have on it to reinforce it. He never does it when I'm looking. Last night when I got home he was hanging out on the outside of his cage looking all proud of himself. I asked my hub if he let Gabe out. He said no. He thought I had left it open for Gabe. I won't even start on all the tricks my eclectus has played. That bird is way too smart for my puny human brain.
