Wink Where's all the Senegal people?? =)

I am thinking I got the wrong type of bird (just KIDDING) because there are so many Conure threads going around!

Thats ok... I will stay here and hold down the Senegal fort even though I am the "new" mama to my birds. =)

On a side note.....I sure appreciated all the recipe's I found on this board! I tried my version of a "birdy mash" with them for breakfast and it was a hit! Basically I did plain oatmeal, oranges, apples and raisins mashed into it while it was cooking and then sprinkled some diced apple on top to catch their attention. They both LOVED it and at a lot. So THANK YOU members of Bird Board!

I've noticed that as well, there are conure posts everywhere! I think they are a good starting bird because they are small but still fun!

I love this board for all the info too, when I first joined everyone gave me really good info about food and care.... don't know what I would have done without all of them.

Your senegal is SO cute! I love him/her playing chess!

Mine would shred those pieces in an instant!

I like the close up pic holding the piece up, it really looks like he/she is thinking where to move it!

I live with an 11 yr old sennie. She's quiet, sweet, and sassy. I think they make wonderful pets and the quiet voice is a nice relief. She's not overly social but still great.

Well, over here in the south of Sweden I have Pepsi and Hugo

(curious fact: conures are pretty rare as pets here. Everyone i've seen has been aviary/breeder birds)

EDIT: Apparently Hugo hasn't been told that Sennies are supposed to be pretty quiet, and to my dismay the greys find great pleasure imitating his squawks, only louder than the original.. oh well..

Jennifer - Patience did try to take a huge chunk out of one of the rooks..but I caught her just in time and we put the board away. My husband has had that since he was a boy, so I would be in trouble if I let her destroy it. Thanks for the compliment on it...I love it too!

Becca- Wow! 11 years old eh?? Have you had he/she from hatching? How many years have you had your Senegal. I am so curious what it will be like over the years as our relationship grows and as we both change.

Threex - Your Sennies are wonderful!!! I see you have a blue eye and a yellow eyed one(is that hugo)? Actually the yellow looks orange..is there all three of those varieties. I love the way sennies squeek and sqwack....I wish they would do it more, but they are babies...I am sure there will be more noise to them later down the road right? *lol*

Pepsi (on the left) is just one year old, her eyes haven't got their adult colour yet. AFAIK there aren't any variations in eye colour among senegals. That is, Pepsi's eyes will in time turn yellow/amber too :)

Really? I just saw something somewhere (wish I could remember where) where a senegal was announced as a "blue eyed Senegal" but maybe they just meant they were still blue as a baby. I had no idea they could turn a "amber" color. Hugo has really colored eyes...so pretty!

I love Senegal parrots. There is one at my store that has formed an attachment to me. If I could figure out away, logitically, to make it work he would be mine. I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through you guys.

Hi Tom, yes...I can sure see how if a person had the room it would be very easy to just keep adding birds to the flock. They are all so great!

I like your sig pic. Davey looks like he is smiling! =)
Bing is a handsome boy as well!

Pepper's Pa has a blue eyed senegal. I think he may post on here from time to time. I'll have to post about my Sammy when I get a better time to post.
