Bald under the wings?

Anyone with experiance with brownheads?? Anyone know if it's normal for them to be bald under the wings and if not what might cause it? I haven't seen any signs of blood and he's mid moult right now, but the complete lack of feathers under his wings is concerning me and I'm not the owner so I can only make suggestions...but I'd really appreciate your views.

Thanks

Hi Cat24: My RB's also keeps and breeds brownies. Here's a link to her pet brownie with her wing up. It doesn't look bald... P1010002.JPG

I know Penny my RB sometimes looks just a little bare under there though.

Not that I am talking about the same type of parrot, however I think general anatomy is similar. So if you are talking about the "wing pit".....

When we first got Pepper, I was shocked to see bald spots under his wings. We only had him a few months and it took that long for him to be handled enough to see under his wings. I panicked and was off to the vet thinking the poor boy was plucking due to his former circumstances and readjusting.... $45. later I learned that they all have bald spots under their wings.... I was used to our little Wawa, and comparatively in size Pepper's bald spots looked huge.

It's my guess that this is just a normal bald spot if there is no redness or signs of plucking.

I'll see if I can get pictures. He's always looked rougher than the quaker who lives here, but the bald spots were just weirding me out!

I don't have the ability to take him to the vets so I ask here and make suggestions to the owners
