with a quaker, the only way is through a blood test done by your avian vet.

Best and easiest way is DNA sexing using blood or a feather from the bird... there is a thought though as to a way to POSSIBLY sex a quaker by it's forehead.... check out http://www.geocities.com/Athens/5484/forehead.htm

However, the theory may be somewhat true, from the shots posted, it is slightly impossible as the birds heads are not aligned the same.... the male quakers head is down, but as far as the crown, it says that the males heads are usually more rounder... there is not much the sight really can say of the slope of the birds forehead unless the heads were the same size and aligned the same in pictures of the same size.... if that's understandable...

Order a blood sample kit from www.avianbiotech.com. Its free. The next time you trim nails or have them trimmed, just cut one nail a tiny bit short until it bleeds a tiny bit. Use the sample card to collect the sample and send it off to Avian Biotech. They can do a DNA test for $20. If you go to a vet, its more like $40. The test is painless and the blood will stop quickly if you use a little cornstarch on the nail and hold some pressure for a minute. If you haven't trimmed nails before, take your bird to your groomer for the trim.
