Quakers and tricks

Whenever I see a book or video about training parrots to do tricks as a way of bonding with them and making their lives more fun and interesting... there are never any Quakers mentioned or pictured.
I know Quakers are intelligent birds, are they not capable of doing tricks? Or, are all the props made for bigger birds like Conures and Senegals and larger?

I am still thinking this parront thing over, so I am trying to learn as much as I can before taking the plunge...

Thanks!

Paul

Yes quakers can learn tricks! My blue quaker will play dead in my hand, gives me "four", flies to me and quacks like a duck when I ask "what does a duck say?". He learned this without treats, just lots of praise. He also has an ever growing vocabulary. Start with easy tricks like turn around and work up from there! Have fun

I have a theory about why you never [or rarely] see certain species of birds featured in training videos.....I think the majority[but by no means all] of people who seek trick training do so because they are encountering behavior issues they wish to change or reshape. Some parrot species are by virtue of their temperament or sheer size more intimidating to work with. These are the ones you are most likely to see.I think the possibilities are endless for a Quaker to learn tricks if that's something you wish to pursue, but even with only basic training a Quaker is likely to become an awesome companion.

I agree with you Tena. I don't think he will go wrong with a quaker. Everyone I've talked to about theirs they seem to be very intelligent. I know my Charlie is a smarty.

My quaker is 2 years old and doesn't talk at all, just squaks. He does a few tricks that seem to impress people. If I ask,"Pumpkin who's so pretty? Raise your hand." He will raise his hand. I say,"Pumpkin give me five." He will hit my finger. If I get angry and reprimand him and say,"Pumpkin, that not nice." He will snuggle his little head on my cheek to say he's sorry. I love him to pieces.

Hello,
We have 2 quakers, one is 12 years old, Holly, Male, the other is 32, male, Cherokee.

There is so much to learn about the older quakers, let me know if anyone has a quaker this old.

We are thinking of adding a baby quaker to our family, we already have a sun. What does anyone know about caging them together, that is if or after they deside they like each other. Our cage is 6foot long x 4feet high x 2feet deep. let me know your opinion. Thanks.
