Re: IS tHIS kISSING OR WHAT?

I have a personal opinion here and some people don't agree with it. In the end, it's up to the person to do whatever they want depending upon how they feel.

I don't believe in letting a parrot kiss me on the mouth or me kissing a parrot on it's mouth. There are no guarantees that in the future that love bug parrot just might decide to bite a soft juicy lip. I don't take it upon myself to judge a parrot's mood or attitude concerning my soft spots. My friend who has a macaw let his bird kiss his neck and one day the parrot bit him in the cheek and he had to get 2 stitches and has a permanent scar.

Another important thing about mouth to mouth is this---we carry very toxic bacteria in our saliva and if any of that ever gets ingested by a parrot it could cause lots of health problems. We can't get sick from them but they can get sick from us---------Dave

That's basically the rule in my household too. They can kiss my hand all day if they want to but never the face. No shoulder birds here either except for one nerd bird Tango (He thinks he was hatched on my shoulder) never has bitten but that doesn't mean he wouldn't if something startled him. :o

Conures love giving toungies too LOL my sun does it all the time.

I know it's naughty....but I let my birds kiss my mouth & I do the same.

Yep, I've been bitten by my sun. Nothing drastic & it was my silly fault cos it was I only just got her & didn't know a thing about her. She kissed hard back then LOL now she's been taught to give gentler kisses & so she gives toungies too LMAO

Re: IS tHIS kISSING OR WHAT?

I let my Quaker give me kisses on the cheek, hopefully I won't regret that later. As far as what your Quaker is doing, I'm not sure. When I get kisses, my quaker just gets really close to my cheek and makes the kissing sound. Could yours be grooming you? As far as mouth kisses, I agree with Dave, not because I fear injury, but because I really don't want my bird to get sick for my foolishness.
