Talking Mbs

MBS has finally kicked in and in two days, my dusky conure will have a quaker friend!

I'm so excited!

Anybody have any tips on introducing a new bird?

We have a quaker and just brought home a sun conure not too long ago. The vet said to keep them in separate rooms for 2 months so they dont spread any thing through touch or air. Also, be sure to wash your hands and change clothes in between. Its a pain but they are worth it. So far we have not introduced the two because the sun conure is still in quarenteen. Hopefully someone else will know more!

After the quaranteen period, bring the quaker in for visits. For the first few months while they are in the same room, give attention to your first bird first. The newby with grow into the flock and your first love should take to it better when it feels it's still top bird. I would always have themin seperate cages, and only have them out under strong supervision.
