some quaker questions, plz help

well i had a pair of quakers in the past, but they were VERY bonded to eachother and didnt like me very much. after a hurricane knocked down an eletrical bowl, they were in the nest and i saved them while they were still pretty young. 1 became pretty friendly, the other was just a grouch.

well i wasnt really ready for birds at the time, i was too young to even really understand them,so my parents found a great home for both of them as aviary birds
but im alot older now and ive read about them and id really like to know more about these birds because im considering getting one

1) would the HQ flight cage be ok?

2) i was planning on getting a green cheek conure, so i already have the toys and stuff on hold, would that stuff all be ok for a quaker?
toys, perches ect..

i live in Miami Fl, so we have wild quakers all over the place, but i cant seem to find an actual BREEDER in my area, any suggestions?
as for color.. the other colors are really pretty but really expensive so green will be just ok

id love to know more about their personalities, traits, how to train them, ect..

thank you

Comical little birds, great talking ability, can be very honorary, usually bond to one person. The stuff you have on hold should be ok. They are GREAT nest builders. Anything they can shred... chew up would make for a very happy Quaker Parrot. They like to be a part of the family so its best to put them in the general living space of the house. If you decide to get one handle it as frequently as possible when young. If you do not handle them frequently they can get nippy. They are FEARLESS bossy little birds.

We have a green quaker that was an escapee from the pet trade. She flew in our fire escape in search of water. We had two amazons at the time, and she would try to get attention from both my wife and I. She loves us both just different. We had to allow her to grow her flight feathers back as she would pluck her other feathers whenever we did trim them. She is better off flying anyway. She gets great exercise and she loves the freedom. We let her out when we are home. She has the big bird mentality and will stand up to our Yellow Crown Amazon. Ours chooses not to talk, but can if she tried. [she has said things once in a blue moon.] She has this call she picked up, like a whip-por-will. She has also gone through a time of laying eggs [although no daddy bird]. She always has to be involved with any going ons, and will fly right over to you the moment you get something to eat. Her body language is fairly easy to read, and she will get into nippy moods now and then. She's our sentinel, and flies to the door to make sure whomever comes is acceptable or foe, and will keep a sharp eye on them until the are gone.
