Egg Question
Hello.
I have a 10 year old female Quaker. She recently layed 6 eggs and is currently caring for them. They aren't fertilized, so they won't hatch. This is the second spring that she's done this. When it happened last time, she cared for them and then got bored and gave up on them. That's when I was able to remove them. Anyway.. It's been a couple of weeks now and she won't give up on them. She's still sitting on them and still very protective of the cage and eggs. What should I do? Can I remove them? I remember hearing that if you take them out of the cage that they'll just keep having more. |

Maybe you just need to give her a few more weeks to sit on the eggs?
Regardless, when you remove the eggs (keep in fridge until your sure your hen wont lay more), change the cage up, different toys, try changing around the diet, increase the amount of sleep (at least 12-14 hours of sleep), move the cage to another location, etc.
