My parents have a quaker and I would never consider having one in an apartment.... I live in a duplex and you can hear my two cockatiels outside! I can only imagine an apartment building would be worse... on the phone with my mom, it's almost impossible to hear her if she's in the same room as Fred, her quaker. Fred has also had problems with self-mutilation, picking, etc... he gets stressed out with change, not sure you're in a place in life where you'll be moving a lot, where change is happening... but that's just my personal experience! I love my cockatiels but obviously they're not nearly as intelligent as parrots!

i just got a quaker yesterday and to me he is quiet - now keep in mind that i am comparing him to a patagonian conure - she is the loudest thing EVAR

personally i dont mind the noise, it always makes the house seem less lonely when im here alone....seems like theres lots of goings on goin' on to me

just my dos pesos

I have a sun, quaker, african grey and umbrella cockatoo. My quaker talks and squawks most of the day but it is no where near as irritating as the high pitched, loud squawk of the sun or the very very loud U2. Half of the time it is just talking, babbling or making noise but not loud. The volume on the tv being turned up and my family fussing about them being quiet is usually caused by the sun or the U2 and rarely ever because of the quaker. They are great fun and every one I have known talks alot. My quaker is the only one in my house that talks clearly but we have only had the U2 for one month.

Hope this helps you decide.
