Quakers are said to be the HARDIEST of all parrots since they are far more immune to some viruses that other parrots are not. As far as parenting, well most likely, if you plan on breeding them. If you want a pet, look into a handraised quaker, though if you buy a parent raised, it is sure to be aggressive or atleast afraid. With proper nests they can be proficient breeders, I'm sure.

As far as caring, they need lots of toys to play with and chew, as well as a base food with plenty of fruits, veggies, and other fresh foods. If you care for them properly then even if the birds are a pest, they should be easy to care for. If you neglect them, then it might turn into a bad nightmare.

In AU, I suspect for them to be $300 and up each. If you are looking for a blue quaker, they are probably worth around $500-$600.

I don't really see why though you are so eager to get a breeding pair of birds, and can't understand if you are looking for breeders, or for pets, or pets that breed??? I'm sorry, though from reading your previous posts, I don't exactly see why you are looking for a breeding pair of birds that are affordable?

Parrotman, I am also an Aussie looking to buy a quaker. From my research in Brisbane, I am finding blue quakers for $600-650 hand reared and green quakers split to blue about $350. I haven't found anyone selling normal green ones yet oddly enough! Try the Queensland State Bird Fair 1 May. There is a lot of information on www.quakerville.com and some beautiful quaker pics. I can't wait to have one!

Quakers normally eat seed and/or pellets in captivity, but they must also get lots of fresh foods i.e. fruits, veggies, bread, beans, rice, etc. I think the breeding season is around Janruary (though I'm sure it depends on where one is in Australia...). I'm sure though that they may do fine next to plum heads and IRNs.
