Toy
Does your Umbrella destroy these balls always or does he "play" with them a while before the "destruction", my Quaker has already bitten them up pretty well. I think I will make a toy I can attach a string to and drag it on the floor and see if he chases it :) Ahh the fun we have with our babies -

We have a cat ball with a bell for our Senegal and he loves to stand on the top of his cage, throw the ball down and then watch us run around for it. I can play this game for hours and hours.

Lara:
I just thought I should mention this because I know how much you love Rico. I think that a cockatoo is likely to get hurt on that particular toy at some time. It has a jingle bell inside and they have a terrible reputation for hurting birds. Birds have lost tongues and toes in mangled jingle bells. That why I never use them in any toys here. You have been very fortunate thus far. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. Its your bird and your call. THE OUTLAW

all my birdies have balls... my pickle has a HUGE cat ball i found for $2 for a pair in the cat section... it's bigger than he is! he loves to drag that thing around. :)
i think the only toy i've had problems with are hoop toys, they always seem to get around my babies' necks and then the poor things try to walk away and half strangle themselves... no hoops in my house!!

Kristy, he used to play with them at first and eventually destroy them after a couple of days. Now he doesn't play with them, just full blown attach and destroy.
Nancy, thanks for letting me know this. I was unaware. No more balls for Rico!!! :aiwebs_01 Not worth the chance, I'll have to find something else safer. I also hate using any kind of chain. Rico's recently discovered the art of hanging off of things. This makes me soooo nervous. I'm afraid he's going to get his toes stuck in something. I have one of those circular wreaths for him. Well, he hasn't used it in a while. I had it on his tree. I looked over one day and thought it was wierd that he had been standing on it for a couple of minutes. I walked over there and his toe was stuck in the chain it was hanging from. Scared the living daylights out of me. No more chains for him. |
