Hyper Quaker?

Hi there :)

I have a question for you Quaker people. I have a Quaker, he is approx 1yr old, he is a great bird, talk s a bit, but he seems soooo hyper. He can't just sit ~ well stand....well sometimes he can. Last night he was able to stand still and concentrate, he learned to say 2 or 3 words simply after we repeated them a few times. He gets lots of attention and out of "home" time, are all Quakers hyper?? When we are sitting down he'll walk down his ladder come over and it's never just scratch me, it always beak on everything, everything. It is not biting by anymeans, just wanna know if that is typical of Quakers. He has to be doing something always...maybe he is like his mom:):)

In age do the mellow?? ~ I haven't yet he he

You have a normal quaker and hopefully will remain the same for years to come, they are all like that and i have yet to see one slow down unless it was sick or hurt.

That's what makes them fun! If you wanted something more sedate, you need to try a really old Amazon. Quakers are always full of spit and vinegar and wear suits of armour. That's so they can challenge all comers. Besides, at one year old, he's simply curious about everything.

Thanks for the words of wisdom......he is indeed full of sweet and sour sauce!!
Good to know I'll have a crazy wild man for what I hope to be a long, long time :) I really can't imagine him holding still even for a minute....what does your old amazon do??
My cockatiel has never been this type of "busy body" so I thought I'd check in with you guys.

Rowdy (my 49 year old blue front) doesn't have that name for nothing he is like a 20 year old and runs around having a blast all the time , he also loves to wrestle for hours.

Chaska is all over the place, if she is out of the cage, I can't turn my back on her for a minute! But she is a real cuddly one, loves to snuggle under my chin!

Acually in addition to 9 other birds, I do have a 20 year old Amazon. She's pretty sedate, especially compared to my rambuctios young macaws. However, she does talk and sing all the time and has been known to actually move around and play on occasion. She's fairly sedate, however, so I just let her do what she wants. After all, at 20 living around so much darn craziness, she probably has a "headache" for the kids.

As for my Quaker, he's nuts. Easily the rottenest bird here and probably the most popular. He's a perpetual crowd pleaser and totally unpredictable. That's what makes him so popular. Everybody needs a quaker.
