Leg band question

Howdy,
I finally got close to Baby to try and read her leg band. This is what I got 55FL1090 or maybe S6FL1090. From what I have read so far the first part is the breeder, The second would be the state. That should be Florida. And the last is the Month and year. October 1990. If that is correct then Baby is no Baby she is 19 ? Does anyone agree or disagree with this?
Thanks Steve A

That's just amazing to me the rescue I got her from told me she was Two -Three years old. It really does not matter to me I would have took her either way but come on they were not even close.
Thanks my friend Steve A

Thumbs up so...

usually breeders put their aviary initials or name initials first then the state the bird is born in then 1 to 4 numbers which signify nothing more to anyone but the breeder the babies id number. for instance TGA FL 09 the aviary, state and say its a goffins cockatoo then that would be the ninth goffins baby bred. sometimes if its a bigger aviary they will put the year but it would be printed width-wise of the band as is usually the state. so if it was TGA 08FL (width wise) then the numbers 09 then thats the ninth baby bred in 2008. a band serves really no purpose to anyone anymore except for breeders for weighing and such...and in some cases if there is an outbreak of bird flu and subsequently your bird doesnt have a band or is not microchipped they can take it and euthanize your bird (or so my vet has said but my baby boy isnt banded or microchipped so they would have to shoot me first!) hope this helps you understand the band!
