Had considered a quaker.......

So my parakeet recently passed away and my room feels so empty without him. I have been considering a quaker because their personalities seem great but i just found out that my state doesn't allow owning quakers and im really upset about this. Does anyone know another species thats roughly the same size and has the same sort of personality?

I have heard good things about green cheeked conures. They are about the same size, probably a lot quieter than a quaker as well. Cockatiels can be overlooked a lot, but I like them a lot. One of my most friendly birds is my female cockatiel ... she sits near me for hours and she even flies to me when I call her. Good luck with your search for a new bird.. and I'm sorry you lost your parakeet. :(

ahhh Green cheek conures are AMAZING birds, imo.

Affectionate, relatively 'quiet', playful, entertaining, cute.. have the *potential* to talk.. all around good birds! I've heard they tend to be nippy during stages of their life, but i haven't had any problems at all with Cookie!
