Breeding ringnecks in an aivary

Hi everyone
Im a newbie from South Africa :D and I have a breeding pair of lutino ringnecks.
My ringnecks want to start breeding but they live in an aivary with cockatiels and budgies, can I keep my breeding ringnecks with my other birds or will they become agressieve towards my other birds when they(the ringnecks) start breeding :?:

They should never be in an aviary with budgies or Tiels, they can be extremely aggressive especially during breeding times. I would put them in their own long flight/aviary immediately or ASAP.

Welcome to the board, Bunny! I'm the resident world traveller here and I have been all over South Africa. I love Kruger National Park, I want to go back there and also to Kalahari Gemsbok to hopefully see cheetahs. I like Cape Town and the Garden Route too.

I only have cockatiels but can tell you they are very gentle, non agressive birds and would be no match for ringnecks so I think Joel gave you good advice.

Thanx for your advice Joel and Tiki :) ,I took the ringnecks and put them in a different aivary but now I do not know if this new enviroment will stop them from breeding this season.
Tiki have you ever been to the Umfolosi game reserve that places is one of the nices parks, even nicer than the Krueger national park in my opinion lol

If that is one of those parks where you see black rhinos in Kwa Zulu Natal, yes I have (names are a little confusing).

Sorry, I don't know anything about breeding seasons.

Hi Bunny! Welcome to BB. I'm off to SA on vacation soon -- I can't wait. Glad you have your ringies off from the other fids. My IRN is very gentle, but even she feels the need to snap at the other fids from time to time. Would love to hear more about your flock!

Deann, that depends on what you mean.... do you mean colony breeding ringnecks and quakers together? Or hybridizing quakers and ringnecks?

I've heard that supposedly the first albino quaker was a hybrid ringneck/quaker.... however I don't know how true it is, and I wouldn't necessarily want to know either by someone else trying to hybridize them (since it is highly frowned upon)... Besides I kind of doubt that hybridization could occur since ringnecks originate from Africa or India and quakers from South America.

As for colony breeding the two... well I don't really know... Quakers are the only parrots that build nests... and they build colony nests... i.e. they have a nursery room, a sleeping room, a lounge room, etc... all built out of sticks... where-as I believe ringnecks are cavity nesters, meaning that they nest in tree holes...
