screeching Ringneck

Help,

Our "Blue" (although she's yellow) screeches ALL day. We can't take it any longer, nor can any of our guests!!!!!!! She's also taken to pulling her feathers out on her chest!!

Help! How do we stop this horrible screeching. We're all starting to dislike her!

She's obviously very unhappy, and could have medical issues. Have you taken her to an avian vet to find the cause of the plucking? She could be in pain, that could explain the screeching. There are so many different possibilities as to why she's screeching, if you could give us more info about her and her surroundings maybe we could help a little more. For example, what size is her cage, how many toys and how often does she get them, how much time does she spend out of her cage, what kind of diet is she on...etc.

Do you have pictures of her cage? Or can you describe to us the size of her cage? How many perches of what types? Toys? What does she eat? Does she come out of the cage any?

Can you also describe to us, where the cage is located, do you cover it? Does she get frequent bathes? Is your home noisy? Quiet? Does anyone smoke or use things that gives off fumes?

As Amanda has said, details please!

Wow...it's a good rule of the thumb that IRNs or ringnecks for that matter don't pull feathers unless something is wrong...take her to the vet and get a check up...

Yes, please get her to a vet and make sure everything is ok. Ringnecks as a rule are not pickers unless it is medical or they are VERY stressed.

If everything checks out medically then we can deal with the emotional part of the problem.

I have a 3-4 yr old Ringy....She is a yeller, and she shushes when I go to her. I spend at least an hour with her every morning and she's content for the day. I have to visit with her before I leave for work at night. My boyfriend turns the computer on with the nature sounds on it for her when I'm away and she pretty much just chatters then....not the ear piercing screeeech!
