Baby Alexandrines

We have three baby Alexandrines now. They are an amazing success story.
We purchased two 3 year old females for only $100 each AUD and then had trouble finding any males. we were talking to a friend about them and he said he had been looking everywhere for a nice hen as he had two males that were about 2 and a half years old. So we did a swap with him for a lovely big male. In fact the pair are bigger than alot that seem to be around lately.
Anyway we put them together, it was love at first sight and three days later she was preparing the nest box. Eggs soon followed a couple of days later and they now have three beautiful heathy babies. Both the birds are really friendly and will land on you in the avairy and while she was extremely aggressive when she first hatched them she is now quite cool with us pulling them out to have a look so here's a picture of one of them.

Congrats on the chicks!!! It's also great that you were able to find a male so 'easily' and amazing how the two took to eachother so quickly! Please, more pics!

Well the babies are going great, sorry I havent posted more pics as requested. We are keeping one and the other two are already sold. A friend is handraising them, one for herself and one for the Bird Park where she works. That one will be on display for people to interact with. And all the birds there are really well cared for so i am happy with their new homes. We havent decided whether we will handraise ours, we will probably just handle him a lot in the nest as his Mum is cool with that, and so he should be semi tame but still an avairy bird as we will find a mate for him when he is older.

Ok We have decided to bring the last baby inside to finish handrearing him/her next week so I will get some more pictures for you seems you all asked so nicely :D
He will have grown a fair bit since I last saw him I think. Probably got most of his feathers in the last week or so.
