Jeff wants Baby and I get a new baby?

Please excuse my laziness/lack of time but this is copy/pasted from my board but wanted to run it by ya'll too.

Here is my thread:

OOOOooohhh how convenient. I have loved, fed, cried, laughed, begged for help with Baby... always getting 'Im Not Touching That Damn Bird Kaela'.

FINE DONT HELP ME. But now, Baby is all cute and 'cool'. He took a liking to my ol man after his adult moult and oddly enough. No, more oddly, my husband has taken to him.

To the point he is willing to take Baby's care on completely, as I work with and try to make our new baby everything Baby is.

I told him all are different, we could end up with a totally different bird. He understands that.

Im really confused by all of this or I would have my gray in my lap right now... anyone heard of this happening before?

He literally wouldnt even get her from the floor and NO BIRD is going to bite from a good floor save.

My man does what he says, if he says he will make sure Baby doesnt even notice the new baby, as to promote bad behavior between the two, he will follow through.

This just has be dumb-founded because all my friends here know... my husband doesnt like birds, doesnt like me having birds and has me in a strict MBS rehab plan.

Then, out of the blue, he asks me to buy and train him a gray. Too weird.

Help me.

Also, in my opinion, he isnt ready to become a feathered father because he stares at the grays and gets drawn back to the blues. If he cant even know in his heart what color he wants, best to wait.

Blue is fine with me, a green and a blue. Would look good in pics but I want a gray. A silver/pewter gray... cant be just 'a gray'. The colors vary waaaaaay too much when messing with these critters.

Did he, through watching me, develop a love for these animals?

Does he just want a new baby to keep me entertained.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Please, any advice is welcome.

I must admit, it warmed my heart much to walk into the living room last night to find Baby sitting on Daddy's knee watching the game and chewing a hair clip.

Men. Cant live with them, cant legally shoot them. Unless you can make it back to the rez before the law gets you.

Then youre freeeee. I love America, only here can you shoot someone and run back to your homeland and not be touched. Gotta love it! Think that sucks though, cant leave the rez or youre a sitting goose. No life for me or I would have killed many of my bf's just for game. Ok hun, you hide in the woods and I'll try to find you! hehe

Those damed Indians are sneeky! -giggle-

Sounds like he was at first against the idea, but as time went by he started to realize just how "cool" birds really are and is interested in them now. Many people (or hubbies) may start out not wanting a bird, but start becoming a bird enthusiast but not wanting to admit it... even though they do little things here n there to ensure that the birds are fine and happy!

I do agree with Monica that he may have started to get attached and realize how cool they can be. Let's face it - Ringnecks are awesome.

I don't know that I would do the his bird, her bird thing though. If he wants to help with the care and handling of baby then fine let him, but you have spent a lot of time with him and also love him. Ringies can be fine as family birds and I don't think he would understand you all of a sudden not doing anything with him.

I say - if you still want to get your grey than get him when you can. You can still give both of them love and attention.

Until you get your grey, here is my Kismet. He says "Hi".

And one with his ring.

My hubby was the same way with my animals when we first got together. But as time went on, He now loves them more then he loves me. lol Its just not fair. lol I agree with everyone else, they grew on him.

RingNeck: Very beautiful babies you have there. I saw a Blue in the pet store the other day. SO pretty, if I had the money with me, I would of had a new addition. lol See, thats why I leave my money at home, cause I can't control myself in petstores. Crystal

Thanks Crystal. Ahh, unfortunately I don't even need my wallet or checkbook. I have breeder friends that will say - go ahead and take him/her and pay me later. Makes it very hard especially when one has a lot of different Asiatics!

Oh and Mikaela - have I mentioned how much fun it can be to watch more than one together? They may be really good buddies and still be your best friends at the same time.

Indy and Sorbet are best buds, but they still love their mommy!

AHHHH look at the color on that gray!

THATS the color I am speaking of, not the dull... dirty looking but the silver/pewter looking.

And you ended up with 2 beautiful males! Try your luck with the lottery baby!

Man, if I did get the other bird and it ended up male too, that would be too AWESOME!!!!!!!!

I love the male attitude and dance.

Pics of owners are the best!!!!

Maybe its a man thing... not admitting he has fallen in love but my goodness, have you seen the stands he makes for him? The toys he comes home with? I just summed it up to wanting to make me happy. lol

Imma silly gurl.

Ringneckmom - so that's how you ended up with so many of them and all those colours (fantastic photo of you & fids!) - Mikaela beware, you'll never catchup with her!

My husband was down on birds forever - really against keeping a bird inside. So he had me really worried about bringing a bird into our lives. We both work at home & have a cat with a terrible voice - so a talkative & loud bird wouldn't work. *sigh* I think my husband loves Laker even more than I do & our boys are just soppy around him. Matthew just got home & the first thing he said was, "hi! tweet tweet!" - "Oh, hi Baby didn't know you were home too!"

Actually, Indy was my first and I was lucky he was a boy. My lutino was already rung out when I got him.

Most of what I have is from working in an exclusive bird shop for ten years. With all the "perks" that can go with that - didn't cost me as much if I was handfeeding my own babies.

My grey, was from my breeder friend, I did luck out that he was a boy. He was the only grey from the parents and by the time I had him home and found out whether he was a boy or girl - I didn't care. I love my girls as much as the boys. They are really cuddly so they took care of my thoughts of a Too. Plus my passion is Ringies.

And you don't want to catch up with me - get what is comfortable for you and your family. Sometimes (especially when cleaning cages) I wish I didn't have as many as I do, but I wouldn't give them up for the world. I just have to make sure everybody gets some love and attention.

I think he does like them Mik, otherwise he would not take the time to build the playstands and get toys etc.
I am sure it is to make you happy as well, but I don't think he would think of them as much if he didn't like them.
