great news about coco

well while we wait for the elusive matches to turn up i have some great news!!
we finally got into an avian vet today so after an hour and a half drive there with coco on my shoulder lol.. he loved it... i can finally find out how cocos health is...
Anyways apparently he is only a young bird around 5 months and that the weather has been causing some babies to moult his started at just after three... also he wasnt receiving the proper nutrition being fed solely on seeds and his feathers are in poor shape due to this.. also he has plucked some of his wing ones those are were the downy feathers are on his wings....
great news is that i have started to pull him around he has new feathers coming in on his head that are looking great so he is starting to turn around nutritionally.. the vet said it would take about three months for his feathers to come around and it will take awhile for his dietary deficiancy to fix up....
But im happy that its not something permanent...
the vet said his wing feathers may never be right but we will just have to wait and see....

i am so happy that he is ok though.. and im glad i got him out of that place and he is now coming into better health!!

awww, hes so sweet!! and poor baby only getting seeds!! i know you will feed him well, and you wont even be able to tell that he once had a deficiency!!

i cant believe the weather made him moult at 3mo thats crazy!! even our smallest birds, the tiels, never even start their moult until they are at least 6mo old!!

i know i thought that the pet shop had made up this convoluted story as they told me they hand raised them at one and then he came down with the main owner of the two stores to be sold there.. and thats where i bought him... i even met the girls that were feeding him because we bought the cage at the other store and they were saying how much they loved him etc...
but yeah apparently the weather which has been absolutely crazy here has caused a lot of young birds to go into a very early moult.. poor thing.. no wonder he plucked some feathers.. so young being in a pet store.. not getting the right food nd moulting as well... poor thing... at least i know it hasnt harmed his intelligence hes the smartest bird
